RWS-PS #202 - Worship God
These preschool lessons and activities were written by Keri Hobgood, then edited
and expanded by Barbara Hanna as she used them in the preschool class she is
teaching. Mrs. Hobgood presents worship to little ones in a simplified
illustration by explaining that our worship to God is similar to a gift we are
giving God. Teachers may prepare one gift box in which to place weekly items
related to the topic. (I used a pretty box I bought at Wal-Mart which can be
used to insert pictures for storage, and then added a bow on the top, so it
required no wrapping and the box remained in good condition for the duration of
the class. BH)
Mrs. Hobgood is the mother of three children, and a faithful member of the
church of Christ. She has a rare ability to explain worship to preschoolers in
a language they can understand. For most of the lessons there is at least one
coloring page and one other activity. The Parent Review with Child (PRC) cards
help parents know what their child studied and how to help by reviewing the
lesson at home.
The topics covered in RWS-PS 202, Worship God are not the same topics
week-by-week as are covered in RWS #2, According to God's Pattern, so it would
not work to use the two books together in a multi-age classroom, which includes
both preschool and grade school children. There are four lessons on praying: to
God in Jesus' name, giving thanks, praying for those who are sick or in need,
and praying for yourself. All five acts of worship are presented, as well as
stressing the importance of loving and obeying God.
