September 2014September 2014 School is underway with Sophie starting the 6th grade, Barrett in 2nd grade and Keaton in 1st grade. The Lees have had a busy summer with vacations and business trips (and fun times along with the business). The grandchildren have been to Disney World in Florida, and we got a fantastic report along with pictures when we were invited to eat with everyone at Connie's parent's home. How nice to be included in these events!!! Later in the summer the family went to California and did a lot of sight seeing, and then in August they went to Georgia. Bahama Bucks is growing by leaps and bounds! They have bought a huge new home office in Lubbock, which is being remodeled. They hope to move in soon. (For those of you who are not familiar with Bahama Bucks, they have numerous flavors of shaved ice and creations you would love to enjoy on a hot day!) You can learn more about them at www.bahambucks.com. Joe and I have not traveled this summer. He did go in the spring to visit his brother Kenny and sister Sharon when she was in Garden City, KS at Kenny's home. Joe hopes to go with his friend, Dave, to see Mike in Raleigh, NC and enjoy some good college basketball next winter. Barrett turned eight in May and we enjoyed getting together with the family to celebrate. Now we are looking forward to October when Sophie will turn twelve.... almost a teenager!!! And Keaton will turn seven. Eric and I also have birthdays in October. Sophie is continuing with swim lessons in the Lubbock Swim Club, and Joe and I usually take her at least once a week. Sometimes the boys go along and play with our iPads while Sophie swims. This fall the boys will be practicing flag football once a week. Joe and I are both well, although we have the typical "getting older" trips to the doctor. Nothing serious, for which we are very thankful. I will be 66 soon and Joe will turn 68 in December. The years have flown by. On August 28, 2014 we were married 48 years. (As you can see, I was a child bride, but a very happy one!) We know many have been praying for us through the years and we are so thankful for all of our Christian friends, and also those who just know "about" us but have never met us. Although we still miss Angie, we have lives full of joy and peace, trusting in God and enjoying the fellowship of our church family at the 12th Street Church of Christ here in Shallowater. Our grandchildren and their parents and grandparents all make us very happy, and we know we are blessed more than so many who have lost an adult child. "Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God!" (1 John 3:1). |
